Smaller Practice – Personalized Care
As Austin has grown, so has the local landscape of counseling. Large group practices have become prominent. We set out to find some middle ground and created a smaller group that keeps counseling accessible, affordable, and more personal. At Austin Counseling House, all are welcome.
Comfortable and Welcoming
We care about our clients and their families and feel like this is foundational for what our practice offers. We wanted our group to pace with Austin’s needs but maintain the welcoming atmosphere that clients have found unique over the years. We hope that when you visit us you feel embraced in a warm setting with a therapist that will use their expertise to engage you in the process. We are guided by many different theories, clinical modalities, and specialties. While therapy can be deeply emotional work there is also joy and connection and laughter in many of our sessions. We hold space for it all.
Cristi Henk Smith, LPC
Cristi works with adults, specializing in anxiety and depression, grief and loss, relationships, self-esteem, and life transitions. She has mentored many novice therapists along the way and enjoys collaborating with them and learning from them. Cristi received her undergraduate education at Southwestern University and has a degree in Psychology. She did her graduate work at Texas State University and has a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling.
Outside of work, Cristi loves planning her next family vacation. She and her husband are solidly in the middle years of parenting and Cristi finds herself driving kids all over town and managing their equally busy schedules. She values her many close friendships and wakes up early to go meet some of them to work out most mornings. She loves her coffee and quiet pockets of time to read her kindle.
Brianna L. Wood, MA, LPC
Brianna works with individuals and couples with a special interest in family systems and relationships. She enjoys working with college students, and has extensive experience working with clients managing the mental health challenges associated with infertility, illness and grief and loss. Brianna also enjoys working with parents navigating all that comes with parenthood. Brianna graduated from the University of Texas with degrees in both Philosophy and English. She was also a student-athlete at Texas, as a varsity rower and team captain her Senior year. She has her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University.
Outside of work, Brianna is busy raising her family and loves watching her kids play sports and find their passions. She looks forward to date nights with her husband when they can make that happen and getting to bed as early as she can with her book only to stay up too late reading most nights.
